Etsy Shop Featuring: “DeeVoo Skincare”

Happy March, everyone! The sun is shining here and the snow is melting. And I get to share a fabulous Etsy shop with you today!

As you probably know, skincare is something I take very seriously. I don’t think you have to spend a lot of money to achieve healthy skin, but it does require some attention. Your skin is your body’s largest organ and everyone should take excellent care of it, just as they would their heart.

Melinda Dodge, an Etsy shop owner, runs DeeVoo Skincare full-time with her husband. She is truly passionate about skincare and actually formed the line as a solution to her own skin care troubles. She suffered from acne and was tired of using products that didn’t work. With her passion for skincare, she began to research and develop her own line. And can you believe it – she completely healed her acne! She says DeeVoo Skincare is “nutrition for you skin,” and I really couldn’t agree more. It was this line that first attracted me to her shop. Her products are about actually healing and promoting your skin’s health.

I was incredibly excited when Melinda sent me four full-sized products. I tried all the products in the Blemish Trio and the Radiant Trio. Her line is loved by people from all over and after seeing she had over 5,000 sales and close to 2,000 5-star reviews, I was eager to see what the hype was about! I began using all four products on February 1st and continued through the whole month to develop a solid review of the products.

1. Mild Detox Creamy Cleanser

Think of what you know about your traditional face washes. This is the exact opposite. It’s a completely different way of cleaning your face. But, that doesn’t mean it’s not effective. In fact, I found this to clean just as well as high foaming cleansers, but it didn’t leave my sensitive skin dry, itchy, tight, or red.  So, how else is this totally different from other cleansers? First, you apply this cleanser to your “dry, dirty face” at night and massage it into your skin. It will not foam, it will not work into a lather. Instead, it sits there and loosens dirt, oil, and makeup while detoxifying your pores. Then use a warm, wet washcloth to wipe the product and all the day’s grime off. I don’t wear makeup everyday but this effectively removed even my mascara on days that I did. So, what’s in this?

Now, you may be concerned about some of the ingredients in this product so I added short descriptions to explain their main purpose. I’m not an expert or a health professional, so it’s always important to do your own research. I also linked helpful pages that explain some ingredients components more in depth.

It’s really important for me to maintain my integrity and as a blogger I want to keep the trust of my readers and never accept products that would contradict what I have previously stated. With this said, I want to discuss the use of parabens a bit more. I never fully researched parabens but really just looked into all the negative that I heard. First, it’s important to note that Melinda uses methylparaben in less than 1% of her formulas. It extends the product’s shelf life by protecting against fungi and harmful pathogens that can develop. Methylparaben is actually found in blueberries, did you know?! Honestly, I was quite surprised in my research that much of what we hear about this are really just scare tactics and there isn’t really any hard proof or evidence of its alleged negative effects on the body. Yes, it’s a preservative; however, it’s there to actually ward off something that could harm the body without its presence. Bottom line, it’s important to do your own research and decide for yourself how you feel about this!

Overall, I really liked this product. It managed to be extremely gentle yet cleansed effectively. It’s a great nighttime cleanser and I would definitely recommend this to anyone! (This cleanser is included in both the Blemish Trio and the Radiant Trio.)

2. Milky Toner

“This is seriously the best toner I’ve ever used.” I said this to my husband after just using this product for a short time. After using it, I noted that it was a “refreshing, invigorating clean w/out drying or causing tightness. No irritation. Glowing skin.” Plus, it really felt like my pores were getting a deep clean. I have to admit, I didn’t use this for the entire month – because I used it several times a day I loved it so much and therefore, used it up before the month was over! Let’s evaluate the ingredients:

  • Water
  • Vinegar – can help prevent blemishes and reduce inflammation
  • Grape Seed Oil (see above)
  • Vegetable Glycerin (see above)
  • Caprylyl Glycol (see above)
  • Phenoxyethanol (see above)
  • Xanthan Gum (see above)
  • Marjoram Essential Oil – therapeutic for a multitude of issues, relaxing
  • Peppermint Essential Oil – natural anti-fungal, helps refresh dull skin

When I saw that this toner had vinegar in it, I was a bit nervous to try it. I’ve attempted the “baking soda and vinegar” skincare regime and it ended up disastrous. My skin did not like it at all! So, I was unsure how my skin would react to this. However, I was completely happy with it and I believe it did everything the description says it should. (Also, if you’re a bit apprehensive about the vinegar smell, don’t be! It quickly fades, so you won’t walk around smelling like a salad!) Also, sometimes individuals with sensitive skin can experience some flushing or a burning sensation when peppermint essential oil is applied but I have very sensitive skin and it wasn’t irritated at all!

Overall, this is the best toner I’ve ever used. Rarely does a product do exactly what is says it should, but in this case it did! I think this shows how familiar Melinda is with her products. Since she developed the line and uses the products herself, she knows the results we can expect! (This toner is included in both the Blemish Trio and the Radiant Trio.)

3. Radiant Moisturizer

This is a perfect light, non-greasy moisturizer for sensitive skin. It’s simple but effective. I used this every morning, but it would be great for nighttime too as the fragrant lavender is very calming. This moisturizer was up to quite the challenge as I was using it during an extremely cold month here. Yet, I didn’t experience any dryness and it soothed my skin. Plus, you can use it around the eyes it’s so gentle! It doesn’t contain SPF so remember to use an additional product to if you are going out or using this in the morning. Also, this product needs to dry completely before applying makeup. So, what’s in this moisturizer?

  • Water
  • Jojoba Oil – great for sensitive skin, moisturizes
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – protects skin, moisturizes
  • Grape Seed Oil (see above)
  • Vegetable Glycerin (see above)
  • Xanthan Gum (see above)
  • Soy Lecithin – emulsifier, skin conditioning agent
  • Carbomer – adds texture to product
  • Caprylyl Glycol (see above)
  • Phenoxyethanol (see above)
  • Lavender Essential Oil – calming, soothing, smells great
  • Methylparaben (see above)
  • (TEA was recently REMOVED from the formula!)

Overall, this moisturizer is effective and managed to protect my skin in even the coldest months. It’s a great everyday “go to” product and it does exactly what it says it should – calms, soothes, and moisturizes to leave your skin radiant! In fact, after using it I wrote it’s “not heavy, soaks in, very gentle, leaves skin smooth & soft!” (This moisturizer is included in the Radiant Trio.)

4. Blemish Moisturizer

My skin reacts really well to Benzoyl Peroxide but sometimes it can be drying and leave redness. I was interested in this product because it used a lower concentration of the powerful ingredient and is combined with other healing ingredients. I used this moisturizer at night and was very pleased with the results! It’s a gentle treatment for blemishes but it also nourishes your entire face. Let’s check out the ingredients:

  • ACTIVE INGREDIENT: 2.5% BENZOYL PEROXIDE
  • Water
  • Jojoba Oil (see above)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (see above)
  • Grape Seed Oil (see above)
  • Vegetable Glycerin (see above)
  • Xanthan Gum (see above)
  • Soy Lecithin (see above)
  • Carbomer (see above)
  • Caprylyl Glycol (see above)
  • Phenoxyethanol (see above)
  • Methylparaben (see above)
  • Lavender Essential Oil (see above)
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil – natural disinfectant, kills bacteria that can cause acne, healing
  • (TEA was recently REMOVED from the formula!)

I’ve used Tea Tree Oil from Burt’s Bees before and found the smell to be incredibly overpowering and really it wasn’t that effective used as a spot treatment. I really liked that because the oil is used at a lower concentration in this formula, it wasn’t harsh and the smell was relaxing and not at all overpowering. I think using an all over face product (instead of a spot treatment) that still has the benefits of a targeted skin treatment is great. (This moisturizer is included in the Blemish Trio.) P.S. This set is recommended by 100% of customers who suffered from acne.

In addition to Melinda’s shop on Etsy she also has her own website where you can read about these products and more, plus you can check out people’s success stories!

  1. I have been using Melinda’s products for at least 1 1/2 years. I still love them and wouldn’t use anything else. And it is not just for women. My seventeen year old son uses the Blemish Trio and his skin looks so much better
